In Matthew 25, Jesus says that whenever we feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, we are in fact doing those things for him. And in Isaiah 58:10, it says to "feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon." At First Baptist, we take seriously this command to care for the needs of others, and our involvement in missions is central to our life as a church.

In addition, we are proud to host the Opportunities for Parenting Teens (OPT) program for Allen County. OPT is a collaborative effort between Allen County Schools, Lima City Schools, and First Baptist Church, along with other county agencies and organizations. The vision is to enable pregnant and parenting teens to complete their high school education in an academically rich environment and to provide a stimulating child care atmosphere in which their children can thrive. Secondarily, the goal is to delay the number of repeat pregnancies among teens in Allen County. For more information please call OPT at 419.224.2678
